Lesson #1 - THE WORD OF GOD - Printer Friendly Version  - (Here) (Requires Acrobat Reader)

The Bible is the revelation of God's will to man.  It is GOD'S WORD in that he is the author.  Over a period of nearly 1600 years God unfolded his revelation to human writers by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  The Old Testament is the inspired word of God (Read 2 Peter 1:21).  The New Testament likewise is inspired revelation of the mind of God (Read Matthew 10:20:  Acts 2:4:  1 Corinthians 14:37).  Peter declares that god has "given unto us ALL THINGS that pertain unto life and godliness, through the KNOWLEDGE OF HIM that hath called us to glory and virtue;" (2 Peter 1:3-4).  One of the last warnings of Christ regards adding to and taking from his word (Revelation 22:18-19).  Please read all these passages in your BIBLE before proceeding.

The conclusion then is that the bible ALONE, without addition, subtraction, or alteration, is the only true guide of man in religious matters.  We dare not have any creed but Christ, nor any rule book but the BIBLE.
